There are a multitude of decisions when it comes to planning the destination beach wedding of your dreams. One of those is deciding how to wear your hair and what kind of bridal hairpiece you will wear IN your hair. The choices available to you today are numerous. The classic wedding tiara, crystal headband, beach wedding pearl comb, rhinestone comb, shell comb, rhinestone hairpins and side comb will always be lovely. The way you wear your hair will determine which type of bridal hairpiece would look best.
Every bride faces the same predicament. Do you want to look romantic, classic or elegant? Will the weather be a factor? The hairstyle you choose for your wedding day is a significant aspect of the total look you want to have. Consider the time of day when choosing a style If your beach wedding day might be very warm, wearing your hair up may help you be more comfortable. Tiara headpieces look their most elegant atop a romantic style updo. Wearing your hair half up and half down is also a very romantic style. Many different types of bridal hair pieces would look beautiful such as a bridal side comb.
One of the newer trends is ornamenting your hairstyle. A remarkable and modern addition to your bridal hairstyle, a feather fascinator features a translucent fabric flower with a Swarovski crystal and silver plated flower detail. Stunning feathers spray to the right side of the piece, and the ornament measures 9″ wide and 4″ tall. The piece rests on a 3″ comb.
Above all, don’t make the mistake of completely losing your personal style identity when it comes to your hair. Of course you will want to look and feel special on your beach wedding day but take care to ensure that your guests will recognize you as you walk up to meet your future husband. And above all – be comfortable.
Would You Ever Wear a Black Wedding Gown?
This morning, as I perused the latest wedding news, I saw an article about a Fall 2012 wedding trend that was rather strange…black wedding gowns. The article featured “Vera Wang, the unofficial queen bee of the bridal couture world, showing her latest collection as part of New York’s bridal fashion week. Her dresses — artfully witchy-looking frocks made from deconstructed chiffon, silk, tulle and organza in decidedly non-traditional tones like nude and black, were perhaps more funeral than bridal (indeed, there was nary a white dress in sight) — but trust us that her unusual show was one of the most stunning we’ve ever seen, whether in the bridal couture world or beyond.”
I suppose it was inevitable that black could one day be a wedding dress color since colored wedding gowns have been shown in many wedding publications for a few years. But…black? I guess I’m old fashioned. I still feel that a white or cream wedding gown is what looks the most beautiful on a bride. But, if you’re a slave to fashion and being trendy is what’s important to you, planning an evening wedding where the main color is black could be very stylish and classy. Evening weddings have their own appeal. I could definitely see a very upscale, big city evening wedding in New York city in one of the posh, luxurious hotels. Female guests would wear their “little black dress” and male guests in black suits. Adding red as your accent color with red bridesmaid dresses, red flowers and red reception decor – could actually be quite beautiful.
Tell me what YOU think about black as a wedding dress color. I invite you to leave your comments and I will dedicate one of my future blogs to sharing what you all had to say.

Isn’t this just the cutest photo? This came from one of our customer’s who was recently married in Tulum, Mexico. Their photographer, Tamms Photos, took this shot after their wedding on the beach. I think it should be called Happy Feet! (In this photo, our bride is wearing Hearts Desire, our best-selling bridal barefoot sandal.) This design has been a favorite with our customers for over 2 years. It has everything - white hearts, Swarovski crystals and a medallion sparkles like the sun!
We receive many photos (and testimonials) from our destination wedding brides who were married in gorgeous, tropical locations. Beach weddings are still very popular and of course we love that and hope it continues. Still, there are many that have never heard of barefoot sandals. There are those that feel flip flops with a wedding gown look fine and those that just prefer to go barefoot altogether. Bottomless sandals are a matter of personal preference.
We’d love to hear your comments on this subject – if you were planning a beach wedding and had the option of adorning your feet with sparkling jewels (while still being barefoot), would you choose barefoot sandals or nothing at all? Post a comment below.

Read More2009 Fall Wedding Color Predictions

With palm trees swaying in the breeze it’s a bit difficult to think of Fall approaching, especially on one of San Diego’s warmest days! But..now that school has started and clothing stores are phasing out shorts and tanks, to be replaced with pants and sweaters I decided to see what the fashionista’s have predicted for fall wedding colors.
Typical autumn tones will still play a part in Fall nuptials, however other very distinctive and bold shades are being forecasted. Like purple! Straight from the Pantone Color Fashion Report of Fall 2009, their Purple Heart (18-3520) will play a big part in the coming months. Imagine deep, lush, saturated shades of purple paired with honey neutrals and a dash of green for accent. What an elegant wedding.
Red is always a lovely accent color for weddings and is also one of the top ten color predictions. Red has always been a very romantic color and so much can be done with shades of sultry red for bridesmaid dresses and decor. Turquoise and greens with a hint of black are being shown in Fall wedding magazines. And the rich, yellow-green of a martini olive paired with touches of red brick as accents will add a touch of sophistication.
Keep in mind these are trends and predictions. What’s most important is that you choose colors for your wedding that reflect your personality and preferences.
